Being on the ocean is like coming home. Being embraced by the Lord and gently rocked to sleep in his powerful, mysterious, loving, vast, comforting arms. In the midst of all that comfort, you are more vulnerable than ever. In an instant the boat you cling to could sink. You're faith is tested more than ever. You're reality rocked and your heart expanded. You begin to truly feel His love and grace and power. You see His mystery in the deep black ocean; the things it contains but remain unseen. You are reminded that your life is in no greater hands than those of the Creator of this vast sea. The God who has given you the breath of life. The land is so close, but not within reach. And you don't want to reach it. Because you don't want to be without the Lord's embrace. But you never can leave His embrace. For He holds you everywhere you are. And the awe and love you feel for Him will never cease. It will only grow with every return to the sea, and every step on dry land, and every breath you breathe.
